PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

2016-2013:  Artist Assistant to artist Rain Harris, Kansas City, MO

  • Hand sculpted components for larger works.  Produced display pedestals for exhibition, and prepared crates for the shipping of works.

2015:  Studio/Project Manager for Studio Nong, Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO

  • I was the liaison between the collective and the community.  My objectives were: to insure the residents’ needs were met, organizing kiln firings, direct work-study students, and, maintain materials and workspaces.  

2015-2013:  Artist Assistant to artist Misty Gamble, Kansas City, Mo

  • Train interns for working with slip-castings, and sculpted parts.  Conduct email correspondence between studio artist, and galleries.  Prepare and install works for exhibitions, and shipping.

2014:  Teaching Assistant, sophomore hand-building and figure sculpting, Prof. Julie Mallen, Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO

  • Presented demonstrations to ceramic majors ranging from beginner to advanced, aided in teaching students advanced analytical sight, hand sculpting skills, and clay and glaze formulation.

2014-2012:  Teaching Assistant, sophomore hand-building and mold making, Prof. George Timock, Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO

  • Presented demonstrations to ceramic majors ranging from beginner to advanced, aided in teaching students advanced analytical sight, slip casting and plaster mold making techniques, hand sculpting skills, and clay and glaze application and formulation.

  • My team and I produced a monthly publication spotlighting the arts, creative individuals and emerging locations.

SKILLS

 

Ceramic:  Forming: Knowledge in the formulation of clay bodies and glaze, with the ability to execute these practices.  Advanced knowledge of mold making techniques, including crack molds, multi-piece molds, and slip casting techniques.  Advanced knowledge in fabricating tiles with press molds; construction through solid building and hollow building.  Strong comprehension of form-language and utilitarian methodologies.  Experience using the potters-wheel, and vertical plaster lath.  Firing: Experience firing: gas, electric, raku, salt, and wood kilns, with preference for electric.  Finishing Materials:  Advanced knowledge of china paint, and lustered surfaces.  Proficiency with underglaze, terra sigillata, glaze, and decals.

Drawing and Painting:  Advanced Knowledge of life drawing skills, preferred mediums compressed and willow charcoals.  Additional medium proficiency: oil, acrylic, and watercolor paints--Pen and ink, graphite

Additional Skills:  Advanced knowledge of photo manipulation with Adobe PhotoShop.  Knowledge of material processes including; cold formed metal work, enameling, etching, mono-typing, relief printing.  Good understanding of traditional wet room photography skills and developing processes.  Experience with studio management and gallery preparations.
